Ghost train
1st Oct '14
Last night fifty T.y students went on a ghost train at Glenart castle in Wicklow. It started at 10pm which was quite late but it made it dark and spooky which was well worth it. We first had a safety talk and we were told that a girl died in the castle...spooky... and then as soon as the instructors said 'everyone take their seats on the train', everybody sprinted for the best seats at the back. Myself and Bronwyn got the very best seats at the very back, all the rows had five seats but the very back one only had two and a empty space next to us. I didn't realise until later what a bad decision this was. I didn't get to sit beside my other friends though. After a minute into the train ride the lights went out and some "zombies" jumped at the train. Some jumped onto the empty space beside us (thats when I realised I shouldn't of sat there). I screamed my head of and I was so afraid something was going to grab me from the back that I sat facing backwards for half of it. There were other spooky displays along the ride and the lights flickered sometimes, I screamed every time. But it wasn't like 'I'm going to die' kind of screaming, it was more 'agh this is scary fun and I know you wont really hurt me'. Half way through the ride we got off and had to walk through a dark building. There was narrow pathways and a man in an electric chair and then suddenly in the dark the floor went soft and I nearly lost my balance. I pretty much clutched onto my friends arm for the whole thing, I probably bruised her arm. We then got back on the train for the second half. I was glad to be sitting up nearer to the front with me friends this time. We went past more spooky dead girls in white dresses and "zombies". The conductor just laughed at us as we all screamed and I squished my friends so much trying to slide away from the zombies. At one point the train "broke down" and a zombie tried to grab me, then other times the train sped up. We got off the train at 11pm and my throat hurt a lot from screaming. But I had so much fun and would definately do it again with more of my friends who didn't get to go. I didn't think I would have been as scared as I was. But now I know I probably wouldn't survive a zombie appocalypse and would just freeze and scream.
