News2Day RTÉ Texaco

27th, Jan, 15

Today the news2day team from RTÉ were filming in our school. They were doing a report on the art competition Texaco, which is the nations largest art competition with very good prizes, most children in the country enter it. They decided to do it in our school because we have had many winners over the years. I won a merit award in first year, which was a great accomplishment. I plan on entering it this year also, so I was invited to be in the backround in the art class while they were filming. They were interviewing a woman from texaco asking her about the competition to encourage more children to enter it this year. I was honored to even be in the backround, and I also got out of three classes to draw more of my piece, which I needed. They also interviewed some of the other student in the class about their pieces, all of them were absolutely amazing. They didn't interview me, which I was thankful for, it was hard not to look at the camera while they filmed. I just hope I can even get a merit award this year. The programme was then aired the next day, Wednesday, at around four o'clock, I can't remember the exact time. The feature was only about two minutes long but I was still proud of our school for even being in it because of our achievements in the competition so far. Fingers crossed I win something this year because I love the day out to see all the other winners. Below is a link to the texaco art website in case anybody wishes to print out the entry form and enter themselves, I would highly recommend you do. The deadline for entries this year is the 27th of February.
